Apple marks 25 years of the iPod with a playful hidden easter egg
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the original iPod, Apple has tucked a nostalgic easter egg away on its Apple Music site. By visiting music.apple.com/us/ipod, users can interact with a digital recreation of the first-generation music player. This virtual tribute features the legendary scroll wheel and comes pre-loaded with a variety of 90-second song snippets reminiscent of the era.
This interactive experience offers a glimpse into the legacy of one of the tech world's most influential gadgets. First unveiled on October 23, 2001, the original iPod officially launched on November 10, 2001. At the time, buyers could choose between 5GB and 10GB storage capacities, and the device relied on a 6-pin FireWire 400 connector for Mac synchronization.

While the product line defined an entire generation of music consumption, Apple eventually phased out the iPod series in 2022, with the 7th generation iPod touch marking the final chapter of the hardware line.
